Good Finds....

Yesterday I went to the allotment for the first time in a while....only to find our gate partially kicked in. Luckily they couldn't get in due to all the brambles and wire we had wrapped round the gate to guard against this sort of thing. The local bobby was there along with some other allotmenters who were not so lucky and had been broken into and had tools stolen and veg uprooted and crops ruined......anyway the reason I tell you this is, on the way there I spotted a plant pot in the window of a second hand shop, but with no money and driving to fast to stop I couldn't pull up for a closer peek. So today I went back up there to see if it was still there....and it was! here it is..................

..........a glorious owl plant pot! I love him. I already have one which I found at a carboot last year and now he has a friend.........................................

In the same shop I also spied  this little guy (the small deer vase) who was cheap as chips and matches the squirrel one I have (which I showed you in my last post). Then on my way back to the car I got a set of three fabric place mats with the cutest bird design on...........................

................and my little squirrel pal came back to visit today.....a good day all round.

So exciting!!

Exciting news my little squirrels, we are going to Japan for 2 weeks in June for our Hols! I can't  wait......... I think my head may just pop off when I get there!!!

I wish I was going on a Big Pink Plane like this one..............

.......with pretty air hostesses in cool outfits, but alas it will probably be some rotter who didn't even bother to put any make-up on and brush her hair........

.....man I would have loved to have been one of these air hostesses, just so I could get the uniform!

Mr Moustache Owl and Friends

I have been quite busy with crafty arty related things recently. I was asked by Anorak Magazine to do a full page illustration for them, which I have been really excited about. I love Anorak, it's one of the best magazines out there. I first came across it in Borders a few months ago, and decided that it wasn't wierd to buy a kids magazine because it was so amazing! packed full of cute illustrations and drawings I couldn't resist. It's the sort of fun, creative, cool magazine that I would want my kids (if I had any) to read. My artwork will be in the Spring Issue, so I will show it you when it's out.

Another project I have been working on, is a new range of Plush creatures aimed at kids, exclusively  for the nice folk at aaltomoderna, this is where Mr Moustache owl and friends come in............................................

These guys are experimental prototypes for the range...................

......at first I really hated these guys as they didn't turn out how I had envisaged, but now I am warming to them, especially Mr Moustache owl. I think with a few tweaks they may work out..........

....I'm quite keen on Pocket Squirrel but not sure if he'll make the grade just yet.................

......as for this guy, I'm not a fan...bit boring, he's on the brink of being out the gang........................

........I think horsey/lama type thing is my favorite and has potential....we'll see. I'll keep you posted on the next round of..........'THE P FACTOR'  ( the Plush factor!)

....On a completely different note I had my hair lightened and cut on Saturday. It was really making me feel down being so dark and my fringe had all grown out. I feel much better for it.

I want tasty treats.....

I watched Hansel & Gretel by Yim Phil-Sung the other day (which was a little dark and very good by the way) and since then I can't stop thinking about cakes and sweets....which isn't really that unusual for me to be honest. The colours and shapes and the taste make me happy, but recently I have been craving them more than normal. I think it is because I can't have any due to the fact my cupboard is bare and all the ones I want either contain geletine (poor dead animal bone juice) or gluten which I have found out I am intolerant to.
Now it is snowing and it looks so pretty I wish I lived in and could eat this gingerbread house......

.......I want marshmallows...not these guys though they are too cute to be eaten.......

...............hee hee Breakfast would be so much more fun it looked like this.

Must try harder.....

Ok I must try harder at a lot of things right now, updating my blog more often, doing more crafting, taking more photographs, generally being more creative etc but the main thing is to stop letting myself go! I used to make a lot of effort in my appearance, not to be vain but because it was fun putting crazy little outfits together, but just recently I have started to slide a little, maybe it's because I'm lazy, maybe it's because half my clothes have been in storage, maybe it's because I now get up at  5.30am. Whatever the reason, I need to pull my socks up.I have put together some photos of looks I love and outfits gone by to re-inspire me.......

The girls by the artist Eiko Hanammura, and the Fruits of Japan will always be my main inspiration.

Me and Sarah..............

One of my favorite dresses, and the hair flowers! I can't remember when I last even wore a hair slide.....

Oh to have purple hair and a doll face........

I've always been a fan of the 60s look......................

I must break out these eyelashes again, and start styling my hair, not leaving it for the heaters in the car to dry on the way to work!!

I watched Sakuran yesterday. I bought it because I loved the cover (I often do things like that, just buy things because they look nice) and it stars Anna Tsuchiya from Kamikaze Girls, one of my favorite films. My whimsical choice didn't let me down, I loved this film. It's based around the life of a Geisha and the visuals are stunning, from the outfits, make-up and hairstyles to the sets. I think I will be watching this one over and over again!

Oh and it's STILL snowy!...
