Noob news

Although I have quite tasteful traditional natural decorations up at Christmas, I do sneak in the odd bit of tacky stuff. I have a love of shiny baubles and garish over the top gaudy decorations. I got these coasters for 5p in a charity shop months ago and have been waiting to break them out!

I went for a hair cut the other day and popped into a new shop called Aalto Moderna which sells Vintage 60s and 70s homewares, as well as clothing and accessories. There were lots of lovely things in there and it's well worth a trip.
Another reason you should go- they are selling  my Giant Noobs. I Think they will be right at home.

It's tree time!

The tree is now up. I like natural decorations on it. Made from wood and straw for a Scandinavian feel with just a touch of red. I don't have a good photo of the whole tree yet so this is just a little close up.  Tomorrow it's time do my mum's tree hooray!
When I was unpacking my Christmas decorations I found loads of stuff I had forgotten about. Like these  tiny Angelfairy prototypes I made about 4 years ago! I often do little drawings and make things then come back to them years later and develope them further.

I have been to Sarah's for tea tonight, and she has given me the best Christmas Card. I love it so much I am going to frame it!

I wish...

I love these poseable Bradley Dolls. I have quite a few, but these little Ice-skaters aren't mine. I wish I had their outfits and was skating in their twinkly world right now...........but no wait there is a tree to be decorated! must go.

deery me!

A little deer from my collection is today's advent picture....talking of deer here is the picture I bought on Saturday from the Craft Fair ( I got it back after leaving it behind by mistake, stupid girl) . It is a beautiful paper cut out by the talented Lucy Spurrier. It combines my favorite things, a deer, squirrel and mushrooms. I just had to have it!

The Owl and the Pussycat

It is time to get my big Christmas bag out. I love the illustration on it. I use it to put all the Christmas presents I've bought in, so I don't loose or forget where I have put any of them.

Today's Advent pic is these cheeky little Christmas squirrels from my vintage Christmas card collection.

I went to a Christmas Market in Melton Mowbray today. The best purchases of the day were from a Charity shop where I got a yellow bag and these mittens..............................

...........but the highlight of the day was, I got to hold an Eagle Owl!

Julefest!

This is a box of lovely baubles I got in the Charity shop the other day. Shiny Good!

Today was the Julefest Craft fair. I arrived to find this lovely place setting on my table...............

........I set up my stall, and got a little bit excited at the Scandinavian Chriatmassyness of it all......

......this was before I sampled the Mulled Wine!
It was a fun day with tasty treats and lots of nice stalls. I bought a lovely Picture but left it behind by accident when I packed up. Hopefully I will get it back next week, so I will show it you then.

Christmas Kittens

These little guys are from my Vintage Christmas card stash. I love these old illustrations, I think it's because they remind me of being small.

Dear Santa........

People are starting to put their Christmas decorations up. It makes my journey home from work more fun, spotting the new fairy lights in peoples windows and gardens each day.
Today's picture is of my mum's Christmas tree last year, as I haven't got mine up yet. I have worked out the theme for it though and can't wait to do it.

Oh yeah and if Santa is reading, I really want this....I have been a good girl!

Little Bear

Today's Advent picture is one of my Christmas Card designs. This little Bear is so excited about Christmas he looks like he might wee! (or already has!).

I would like to share with you this breakfast cereal, I just love the design on the box, and it tastes good too.

It's now officially OK to talk about Christmas!

Here is my first Advent image. As it is so cold outside, my first daily picture in the run up to Christmas, is this polaroid of me and my pal Sarah. It was taken while we were working in our little Vintage Shop on  Christmas Eve 3 years ago. We wore Christmas jumpers (and hats!) and drank Cherry Brandy all afternoon......it was so much fun.

Candy Cane

I had fun at the Candy Cane Craft Fair on Saturday. Here I am on my Stall. Thanks to everyone who bought something.

My friends keep me going with little commissions, and my latest one was these make-up bags.

EEEk It's been freezing today, and the cold weather makes it start to feel Christmassy. I am super excited about my daily advent picture posts. First one tomorrow.

New Finds

Today was a good day for Charity Shop treasures. I got a yellow ceramic, dressing table trinket  tray thing, which the lady wrapped up so nice, I didn't want to unwrap, and as I am moving soon I am waiting to display it in it's full glory. I saved a vintage fur Muff (fake of course!). I am not allowed it until next week, as it is part of a display and have to wait till the local 'Best Christmas window display' has been judged! hee hee.
I also got  some amazing old  kitsch Christmas cards and Baubles which I am going to post on here in December. I have decided to do a blog advent Calender, so every day in December leading up to Christmas I am going to post a lovely Christmassy pic.
Oh yes and I also got 2 vases this is one of them, it's so bad it's good!

Organizing the troops

I have been getting things ready and trying to make more Christmas items for my Craft fair this weekend...It is making me feel all Christmassy. When I called at the shops yesterday to buy something for tea, I came away with all this instead!

Toot Toot!

I got my new car today. Ideally I would have liked an old VW camper van in sunshine yellow, but as this isn't practical for my commute to work I got a black VW polo instead. It is only 9 months old and is a 1.4 TDI so is perfect. The best thing is the nice big boot for all my carboot bargins!

Snow Bunnies

I found the little glass rabbit in a Charity Shop on my lunch break at work today. I couldn't resist him, and he spurred me on to make the white doozer rabbit. There has been lots of crafting going on, but mainly angelfaries, so it was nice to go back to stitching.

ages and ages

It seems like forever since I have done any crafting and I have a couple of craft fairs looming so I am posting this photo of some little eskimo girls I was working on before I re-joined the working world. Hopefully these little guys will spur me into doing more.

Imaginarium

I went to see The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus on Friday night, and I loved it, purely because it was a feast for the peepers. I love films with loads of amazing outfits, sets and visuals. I have always had a love of the old Victorian style fairground rides and freak shows. They seem so magical and mysterious and I love all the ornate patterning and decoration. I saw this carousel in Cornwall on my holiday and thought it was beautiful.

Tired

Today was my first day in my new job. It went well and I really like it, but not the early starts. It was all dark and rainy when I left the house this morning and all dark and rainy when I got home.... but the good news is I'm going to be able to work from home 2 days a week.
My brain is all worn out now, and I'm tired....off to pack my bag for morning then bed.
